Tavis Learg CF-L3 - forever in our hearts and minds

We lost Tavis in June of 2023 when he was killed in a car crash in the south of France. Although the gym will never be the same without our founder and head coach who showed us all how to get the most out of ourselves, he will be forever in our hearts and minds.

As a CrossFit Level 3 trainer who has travelled the globe developing his coaching from some of the best coaches and athletes in the world, Tavis offers Red City a huge amount of expertise in the domain of CrossFit but also gymnastics, endurance sports, weightlifting and particularly mobility.

As a former elite cyclist racing in Europe Tavis specialized in endurance sport before he carried his experience over to the world of CrossFit in search of a more complete and functional approach to training. He’s a CrossFit Endurance coach focusing heavily on running mechanics and breath training and seeks to develop a broad base for many endurance athletes by improving their strength and conditioning.

This doesn't mean he only focuses on endurance. Having competed in a broad range of sports he's also a black-belt in taekwondo, with over 20 years experience in martial arts.

His coaching and his own work revolves around mobility. As a CrossFit Movement & Mobility specialist he applied the teachings of Kelly Starrett in order to help him overcome years of compromised positions on a bike and now strives to help others improve their movement as well as preventing and overcoming injury.

If you've got shin splits and a sore back; want to increase your endurance capacity; or want to know how to excel at CrossFit at the same time you'll definitely want to talk to Tav.
